The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate the impact of the Migrants as Messengers awareness campaign on irregular migration. The assessment took place in 8 locations in 8 districts in Dakar, Senegal. Field activities were carried out in three phases as described below:

Phase 1 – Invitation Phase

Investigators visited the eight targeted districts to interview targeted individuals (individuals aged 16 to 35 years and their parents). A total of 7,393 respondents that were deemed fit to participate in the screening were randomly selected and given official invitations for screening.

Phase 2 – Projection Phase

This phase involved organizing 32 video projections in the eight targeted districts in Dakar. It consisted of 16 screenings with the content of “Migrants as Messengers” for the “treatment” group and 16 projections with a different content for the “control” group. A total of 1,493 respondents invited during the invitation phase participated in the screenings.

Phase 3 – Final Investigation

This phase involved conducting face-to-face interviews with participants of the projections in the eight districts who were invited for endline survey. The endline questionnaire was eventually administered on 1,226 out of the expected 1,493 invitees (82.1%).
